Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army), commanded by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was instrumental in hastening the departure of British rulers from India. Sainik Parishad celebrates Azad Hind Fauj Divas on 14th April because on that day in 1944 the INA had liberated a part of India at Moirang (Manipur) and hoisted the tricolour. A pilgrimage to Moirang has become an annual event in our calendar of activities. This day is celebrated in most of the states to inculcate the feeling of sacrifice for the nation.
INA veterans of yester years are today forgotten heroes. To inculcate pride amongst these veterans, Sainik Parishad organized a 3-day programme, called ‘International Reunion of INA Veterans’ in New Delhi form 19th to 21st April 2002. During this programme, INA veterans from all over the world were invited. These veterans were accorded a grand civil reception at Red Fort. A park near Red Fort was also named Chalo Delli Park on that day. The reunion was a great success and was widely covered by the media.
