Under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, Registration No. S35592 of 1999
INA veterans of yester years are today forgotten heroes. To inculcate pride amongst these veterans, Sainik Parishad organized a 3-day programme, called ‘International Reunion of INA Veterans’ in New Delhi form 19th to 21st April 2002. During this programme, INA veterans from all over the world were invited. These veterans were accorded a grand civil reception at Red Fort. A park near Red Fort was also named Chalo Delli Park on that day. The reunion was a great success and was widely covered by the media.
The British ruled this country for almost 200 years with only 50,000 British civilians and military personnel. Unfortunately they were supported by personnel of huge Royal Indian Army officered and controlled by British officers.
MOIRANG VICTORY CHANGED SITUATION
Moirang is the place where the INA defeated the mighty British on mainland India and hoisted the flag of free India on 14 April 1944. The Victory of Moirang by Azad Hind Fauj (INA) under the leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose brought about a situation where the British could no longer command loyalty of the Indian solider. The British therefore, found it wise to quit India which they did on 15th Aug., 1947 but only after dividing India. This is amply proved by the note sent by Lord Wavell Viceroy of India to Secretary of State for India in Aug.,1945: This is the first occasion in which an anti British politician has acquired a hold over a substantial number of men in the Indian Army and the consequences are quite incalculable…. The cabinet should consider very carefully what to do about him (Subhash Bose), if he could be disposed off without being sent back to India, I am sure it would be good things.”
In paying homage to the Martyrs of the INA Netaji Said: “THE FUTURE GENERATIONS OF INDIANS WHO WILL BE BORN, NOT AS SLAVES BUT AS FREE MEN, BECAUSE OF YOUR COLOSSAL SACRIFICE, WILL BLESS YOUR NAMES AND PROUDLY PROCLAIM TO THE WORLD THAT YOU THEIR FORBEARS, FOUGHT AND SUFFERED REVERSES IN THE BATTLE OF MANIPUR, ASSAM AND BURMA, BUT THROUGH TEMPORARY FAILURE YOU PAVED THE WAY TO ULTIMATE SUCCESS AND GLORY.”
MOIRANG DARSHAN YATRA BY ABPSSP
Considering the historic importance of Moirang Victory, Akhil Bharatiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad (ABPSSP) decided to undertake this Yatra ever year on 14th April, in which ex-servicemen from all over India participate thereby accelerating the process of national integration.
To pay homage to martyrs of North East India and honour their families.
To develop affection, respect and pride for our Armed Forces in the hearts of our brethren from the North Eastern states.
To further strengthen the bond of unity, brotherhood and oneness amongst our countrymen.
ABPSSP has won acclaim from defence establishments, civil administration and the general public for its innovative programmes. A few are described below:
Vijay Divas (16th December)
Vijay Divas is celebrated to commemorate the great victory of our armed forces during the Indo-Pak war 1971. It was on 16th December 1971 when about 93000 Pakistani soldiers were taken POW in Bangladesh. Sainik Parishad took the initiative to celebrate this victory for the first time in 1996 when the President of India started the programme by paying homage to the martyrs at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate. Awareness about national security, including knowledge of and pride in the Armed Forces of the country is the theme of celebrating this day.
Azad Hind Fauj Divas: (14th April)
Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army), commanded by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was instrumental in hastening the departure of British rulers from India. Sainik Parishad celebrates Azad Hind Fauj Divas on 14th April because on that day in 1944 the INA had liberated a part of India at Moirang (Manipur) and hoisted the tricolour. A pilgrimage to Moirang has become an annual event in our calendar of activities. This day is celebrated in most of the states to inculcate the feeling of sacrifice for the nation.
