Netaji- Azad Hind Fauj Smarak Nyas is an autonomous apolitical public charitable trust promoted by Akhil Bharatiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad (ABPSSP). The Nyas owes its origin to a flag Yatra by a dozen workers of ABPSSP from Moirang (Manipur) to the Red Fort in Delhi in April 1997. The impressive and deeply symbolic flag hoisting ceremony with the precincts of the Red Fort culminated in a resolve to meaningfully engage in activities designed to perpetuate the memory of Netaji Subhash Chnadra Bode and his Indian National Army (INA) to undertake programme aimed at actualizing Netaji’s vision of free India. Although the Memorandum and Articles of Association was written out in 1997 itself, the Nyas was registered at Delhi with an adhoc board of trustees on 05 November 2001.
The next major event in our history was the International Reunion of INA veterans organized at Delhi from 16 to 18 April 2002, largely with the help of ABPSSP. The response from INA veterans both within the country and abroad as also from the Government of Delhi and the Union Government was overwhelming. A large number of retired senior officers of the armed forces came forward to work with us and a fresh board of trustees was constituted. The aims and objectives were reviewed and specific programmes adopted took over the Trustees Secretary of the Nyas on 13 Feb’03 and Gen O P Malhotra,PVSM, AVSM, VSM former Chief of Army Staff took over as the Chiarman. Later, Gen O P Malhotra PVSM, AVSM, VSM became our First Patron and Brig K P Singh Deo, AVSM, former Union Minister, took over as Chairman. Dr Ms Anita Bose daughter of Netaji Subhash Bose, also joined the Nyas as its Patron on 01 Jan 2006.
During the period 2003-2006, the new energetic team did considerable ground work. Memorandum and Articles of Association were updated and several programmes were actively taken up. The Nyas has now geared up for a more meaningful efforts for nation building.
The Nyas seek and invites wider association with individuals and organizations which are already working or wish to work together for making Indian a truly great nation.
